SIDI SPORT STARS IN THE SUPERMOTO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
April 20th, 2009 – The 2009 Supermoto season got off to a running start in Italy. On Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th of April, the Italian GP took place under pouring rain on the Viterbo circuit. Sidi was there as a sponsor of the race and also to back up its champions on the track. Breathtaking curves, skids, gravel and stretches of off road were par for the course, a mix of elements that make this two wheeled sport so fascinating.
The pilots from the Sidi Sport stables were wearing their Sidi Crossfire boots in the special Supermoto versions, and in spite of the lousy weather conditions they immediately made their mark. Italian Davide Gozzini (TM) was very fast under the rain and took an excellent second place in the S2 hot on the heels of the winner, Chareyre. Good the fourth place of Andrea Occhini (TM), too. Britain’s Chris Iddon (KTM) was also great in the S2. Although he only came in eighth place in the race, he had the satisfaction of taking the Superpole in Sidi’s honour with a lap featuring breakneck speed, dizzying leans and a mind boggling explosion out of the final curve.
